Naval Air Station Oceana Air Show 2005
On 17th September 2005 Jetwash Aviation Photo's visited Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia, U.S.A for the annual air show. N.A.S Oceana is the United States Navy's East Coast Master Jet Base and home to numerous VF (Fighter) and VFA (Fighter-Attack) Squadrons flying a mix of Grumman F-14A/B Tomcats, McDonnell-Douglas (Boeing) FA-18A/B/C/D Hornets and the U.S Navy's newest fighter, the Boeing FA-18E/F Super Hornet.
It was billed as the last ever show for the venerable Grumman F-14 Tomcat, as they were being replaced in U.S. Navy service by the FA-18E/F Super Hornet, many of which were in evidence already. A year later they would dominate the flightline at Oceana, with the F-14 nothing but a wonderful memory.
